Kilgore College police along with Kilgore city police are still searching for the people responsible for 30 shots being fired on Houston Street last Monday night.
Around 9 p.m. police were alerted of shots fired on Houston Street. The incident did not occur on campus but was close enough to warrant alerting students via the Rave alert system.
KCPD chief Martin Pessink stressed the serious nature of the crime and that work is being done to bring in those responsible.
“Right now we are working with the city following up leads as they come in,” Pessink said.
To help ensure the safety of KC students, security sweeps of the residence halls were conducted following the facilities being put on lockdown. K-9s were brought in to help with the sweep and all rooms were checked. Nothing was found.
No reports of any person being shot have come in at this time, nor is there any information concerning the cause of the incident.
Any person with information related to the crime is encouraged to call KCPD at 903-983-8650, the Kilgore Police Department at 903-983-1559, or the Gregg County Crime Stoppers at 903-236-7867. Tips can be made anonymously.
